On our 35th wedding anniversary, my husband gave me a rental trombone and one month of lessons. I was 57 and loved it so much, he took up the clarinet. My teacher was Peter Ziegler, who led the second New Horizon Band in the nation, in Madison, WI. He got both Bill and me into the band, and we fell in love with the experience. When we retired to Door County, we were happy to find a place for us to continue playing. I was a teacher (K-3), office manger, salesperson, and president and board member of lots of organizations. Now that I'm retired, I'm busier than I've ever been!
